Statistics show that the scenic spots and resorts in SIP recorded 1.14 million tourist arrivals during the Chinese Spring Festival holiday that lasted from Jan 21 to 27, up 32% year-on-year, while the operating incomes of nine hotels located around Jinji Lake and Yangcheng Lake reached RMB 26.78 million, with a YoY increase of 78%.
The reason that SIP was so popular with the tourists was that it offered multiple opportunities for the latter to enjoy a special and unforgettable Spring Festival holiday.
The fireworks, Chinese lanterns, audio-visual shows at Jinji Lake Music Fountain and bustling bazaars on the banks of Jinji and Yangcheng lakes jointly created a festive atmosphere featuring mixed traditional and modern elements, and the boat tours on Jinji Lake allowed the passengers to have a glimpse of the best-known landmark projects in SIP.
Dragon and lion dances were staged at many shopping spots, and a diversity of celebrations were held at tourist destinations. Tourists could watch dramas, conjuring, cross talk and demonstrations of techniques that are intangible cultural heritage, and try to write Spring Festival couplets or make woodcut prints for use as decorations for their homes during the festival.
The Pet Paradise attracted many families with little children who saw cute animals, experienced farming and participated in various DIY activities.
The hotels in SIP also organized different kinds of special events such as the New Year Afternoon Tea, folk custom experiencing activities and parent-child tours.
