SIP’s Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort (YLPTR) hosted a grand carnival from Mar 20 to 21, offering the participating citizens and tourists a good opportunity to enjoy beautiful sakura and other flowers, experience traditional culture and watch art performances during the weekend.
The event opened at Chongyuan Temple, a Buddha temple in YLPTR, where about 30 people staged singing and dancing performances to compete for the qualification as the “YLPTR ambassador”. After fierce competition, 14 of the contestants gained the entry to the final this weekend.
Apart from that, the event incorporated other art performances of traditional styles, a bazaar with nearly 50 booths selling ancient-style cloths, food and traditional handcrafts, and prize-giving activities for participants to experience ancient games such as fifteen-pin bowling and archery.
The sakura appreciation will continue this weekend when the newly-minted “YLPTR ambassadors” and Internet celebrities wearing traditional Chinese cloths will lead a tour from Chongyuan Temple to Sakura Forest and Lianchi Lake.
Notably, the local tourism authority offers free shuttle bus service between the “Weiting Experimental Primary School” bus stop and Chongyuan Temple during these weekends, and there is also sightseeing bus service at Xianying Lake Tourist Center and the north gate of Chongyuan Temple.
