The renowned playwright and theater director Stan Lai gave a lecture at Northern SIP Citizen Center on Sept 4 when he unveiled details about the creation of the “Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land”, a masterpiece of modern Chinese language theatre.
In SIP, there is the Performance Workshop Suzhou, a branch of Performance Workshop, a famous theatrical troupe founded by Stan Lai and his wife Ding Nai-chu in 1985. The workshop runs a list of programs including the twice-yearly “Stan Lai’s Lecture” which is designed to make the stage drama experience more accessible to the public.
In the latest session, Lai gave a detailed account of the design of the “Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land” based on its plots and the director’s work in rehearsals.
It is learnt that SIP Public Cultural Center is joining hands with the Theatre Above founded by Lai and his team in Shanghai to launch online a performance competition themed “Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land”.
