In the event organized by SIP Ecological Environment Bureau, the Publicity Department and the United Front Work Department of CPC SIP Working Committee and Suzhou Wetland Nature School on Nov 8, a group of bird watching enthusiasts took a boat tour on the Yangcheng Lake in SIP to watch birds.
Traveling along the shore of the Yangcheng Lake Peninsula, the bird watchers spotted many species on the water and the banks. They felt so excited that they could not put their cameras down.
The lake and the surrounding area are now an ideal habitat for birds thanks to the SIP authorities’ constant efforts to improve biodiversity. Egrets, cormorants, wild geese and many other kinds of birds live here in this season.
SIP Ecological Environment Bureau said it is pushing on with the third biodiversity survey since 2012, and has recorded over 80 species of terrestrial vertebrates across SIP, of which there are 70 kinds of birds, including black-winged kite and water pheasant, both under second-class state protection in the country.
