SPIL (Suzhou), an integrated circuit chip packaging and testing arm of Taiwan-based semiconductor company Siliconware Precision Industries Co Ltd (SPIL) in SIP, broke ground on a new plant in SIP on Nov 26. The project, with a land area of about 95 mu (6.3 hectares) will be a high-end IC testing base meeting international norms.

SPIL (Suzhou), founded in SIP in 2001, now has about 5,000 employees. It has demonstrated industry-leading competitiveness in TFBGA, BGA, QFN, QFP, FC and bumping packaging.

The new plant, located in Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort, is expected to help accelerate SPIL (Suzhou)’s upgrading and at the same time contribute to further expansion of SIP’s IC industry cluster, which recorded a total of operating revenue of RMB 70 billion in 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 24%.
