Mondelez International, a leading global snacking company, hosted a ceremony in SIP on Feb 7 to celebrate that its Suzhou branch has become a “lighthouse factory” within the Global Lighthouse Network, a World Economic Forum initiative in collaboration with McKinsey & Company.
Mondelez International (Suzhou) Co Ltd became the third “lighthouse factory” in SIP in January, the other two being Johnson & Johnson Medical (Suzhou) Ltd and Bosch Auto Parts (Suzhou) Co Ltd.
Founded in 1995, Mondelez International (Suzhou) started in 2018 to explore the way of going digital. So far, it has managed to greatly improve its manufacturing and logistics efficiency by employing AI, 3D printing, digital twin, Internet of Things, Automatic Guided Vehicle and other advanced technologies. Digitalization has allowed the company to improve its on-time delivery rate by 18% and cut delivery time by 32%.
“The Suzhou branch produces two thirds of the biscuits that we supply across China. We hope to make its manufacturing more smart relying on advanced technologies,” said Zhou Dong, vice president of Mondelez’s supply chain in Greater China.
