Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR), Oxford’s first overseas physical science and engineering research arm that opened in SIP’s Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone in 2018, opened an innovation space in SIP on Nov 22 to further strengthen its R&D and innovation capabilities.
OSCAR has pulled off remarkable achievements in SIP over the past four years, with eight research centers and over 20 laboratories in operation for development of photoelectric technology, regenerative medicine, antiviral products and so on.
The new innovation space, with a total floor area of about 2,000 square meters, comprises six technology innovation centers with a lab zone covering more than 1,000 square meters. These centers provide sites for pilot scale production of new therapeutic products (like cells, vaccines, proteins, nano-antibodies, etc.), biological products (like enzymes, microorganisms, etc.) and medical devices (like diagnostic devices, biosensors, etc.).
Concurrently, the OSCAR-Hongda Perovskite Film Technology Innovation Center, a joint establishment by OSCAR and Hongda Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd, a company based in Shangqiu in Central China’s Henan province, was inaugurated at the innovation space.
OSCAR also signed agreements with Rosetta (Suzhou) Biotech Co Ltd, The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and AIMU Food Technology (Suzhou) Co Ltd to cooperate in R&D of cancer therapies and other aspects.
