SIP is one of the best places in the region south of the Yangtze River to appreciate art. There are more than 20-plus art museums, galleries and other organizations which offer more than 120 art exhibitions each year.
The Beijing Film Academy New Media Art Laboratory Exhibition themed “The New Academic Approach of Chinese Contemporary Art” and the solo exhibitions of Wan Zhuqing and Ding Cheng are underway at Jinji Lake Art Museum, showcasing diverse forms of art including installations, digital images, sound art and paintings.
A variety of exhibitions opened during the Chinese Spring Festival holiday late last month, such as the exhibition of Taohuawu New Year woodcut prints at Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Art Space and the exhibition of painting, photography and floriculture at Northern SIP Citizen Center.
At the art exhibitions in SIP, the visitors could not only gain a good knowledge of traditional and contemporary Chinese art, but also take a close look at many artworks by world-famous artists.
An art exhibition that lasted at Ui ART Center from Aug 16 to Dec 4 allowed the visitors to appreciate a list of works by French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cezanne in an immersive way. Besides, works by Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, Portuguese artist Jose de Guimaraes and many other international masters have been shown in SIP over the past years.
In addition, SIP each year sees a large number of art events designed to help local residents foster good aesthetic and artistic taste or offer them opportunities to showcase their art talents. Last year, SIP’s “Art Buses” took the participants to over 10 art museums and galleries along six routes.
